Grilled Romaine
Serves 2-4 as a side
INGREDIENTS
- 2 heads of Romaine Lettuce (sub summer crisp / crisp head lettuce)
- Olive oil, sunflower oil, avocado oil, or other neutral oil.
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
INSTRUCTIONS
- Pre heat BBQ to medium-high heat.
- Cut each Romaine head in half, through the middle.
- Slather Romaine heads in oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Grill lettuce halves for 2-3 minutes on each side, removing from the grill when outside leaves are visibly cooked.
- Drizzle a little more olive oil and the lemon juice over lettuce heads, and more salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve as a side or appetizer, and enjoy!
NOTES:
- You can serve with a side of salad dressing or pesto for dipping if you’d like!
- Cutting with a knife and eating like a wedge salad seems to be a good method for eating.
- Adding grated parmesan is a delicious option, too!
- Feel free to add anything else in that you’d like! This recipe is meant as a guide — substitute as needed!
